Wisconsin resident Monica Nelson knows that community service is a crucial aspect in the development of a responsible citizen. Monica is involved in several nonprofit organizations that help improve the lives of many people with different needs. To assist adults who are furthering their education, Monica Nelson volunteers as a mathematics tutor. She has also volunteered as a member of the American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Disaster Action Team, a disaster-preparedness group that provides immediate assistance to those affected by a disaster in their area. To help abused women who want to improve their lives, Monica Nelson serves as a volunteer at the Sojourner Truth House, a charity devoted to providing shelter, safety, and support to victims of domestic violence. In her spare time, Monica Nelson enjoys writing, cooking, lace-making, and adventure travel. Ms. Nelson attended Marquette University in her hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she studied Journalism and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree.
